It also looks worse because if you remember they also released XBox360 screenshots that were actually PS3 screenshots photoshopped with XBox360 buttons. With that happening before this commercial aired.

Also apparently this was caught late because the ASA trusted S-E when they were told that there were no differences between the two versions and that both versions where made to run in the same resolution.

Actually no. It was one fanboy gamer who wrote into Watchdog in the UK. 1 writer triggered ASA sitting down with the 2 versions. ( and admitting themselves that the difference is minimal ), in other words unoticeable. 

Also Square Enix were the ones to make the footage. Not M$. So we shouldn't be blaming M$ here. Square have already said it was them.

Yes, it was originally pointed out by a disgruntled gamer, but the Gamespot article also notes that the ASA let it go at first because they were assured that the 2 versions had no differences and S-E said that both version were made to run in the same resolution.

I also am just speculating on why MS is being targeted by the analyst. Like I said, they paid for the wester advertising, hence the reason why PS3 is not mentioned what so ever in the article.

I understand that this pretty much all falls on S-E's shoulders in the end.
