Ive played both ME1 and ME2 several times, taking different actions.. but the story that goes from ME1's decisions to ME2 always turn out to be basicly the same. Some minor things changes the dialog, but nothing makes the story do a 180' like most of you seem to believe.

The major ME1 decisions were to have a large effect in ME3's outcome. Wrex, The Rachni Queen, The Council etc.
