I disagree greatly
SONY ANNOUNCED 38.1 M LTD sales for ps3 as of JUNE 2010 Sony announced a 160GB PS3 today, and it is shipping, the 120GB model did not receive a discount, which shows to me that they aren't much in stock.. So how does that lead to a 2 MILLION amount of consoles on store shelves? Makes zero sense, and I am not betting, but it would not surprise me if the consumer sales are off.. for ps3 |
1. I said at most 1m low, which would mean I think the number on shelves WORLDWIDE is actually closer to 1.2m not 2.2m.
2. That is a perfectly normal situation for any company, hell, 2m really isn't unexpected.
3. Sony announced the new skus for Europe, there is no way they intend on selling the 120gb unit for the same price as the 160gb unit. It will be discounted as a clearance price when the full NA details come out. Keep in mind this is just a HDD change and box change, so a change in production wasn't that costly in terms of time it takes. So, they could have made that switch easily and just started shipping the 160gb units almost seamlessly over the last couple of weeks.
4. The shipped numbers being discussed have nothing to do with the 160gb unit as these are rounded numbers from their quarterly report which ended months ago. As such you can't derive anything from the new skus that relates to what was shipped/sold back then.
