How so? Microsoft only paid for timed exclusivity, should they have just been nice and let MS keep it, even though they watched as their franchise's userbase shrunk?
Well, if it didn't really "shrink" you can make the case that it certainly didn't grow.
They had a deal with MS and they honored it. How is that backstabbing?
