Not in the next 2 years. Even if Nintendo pulled the Wii from shelvs on Jan 1st, the PS3 would have to sell more than twice it's current sales in order to catch up by 2009.
If Wii sales just bottomed out, selling half of it's current rate, and PS3 doubled it's 2007 sales, then at the start of 2009 the PS3 would be at about 21m vs the Wii's 27m. At those rates, the PS3 wouldn't catch the Wii until early 2010. Given that such dramatic shifts in console sales are rare, especially over a prolonged period, it is hard to imagine a situation in which the PS3 could catch the Wii before 2011-2012, if ever.
