I'd like to see the actual quote, upon following the links through all I got were more links until it went to Fox which just said that he was quoted saying that without giving a source. I'm curious if that's what he truly meant based on context.
Also, it isn't that those who oppose you don't care about the feelings of those who were injured in 9/11. It's that those feelings can't change the constitution. You can argue that they shouldn't do it, but you can't take away their right to do it. If we try to protect our way of life by taking away freedom of religion which is one of the founding aspects of our way of life then what did we really save?
further more you are right that real people were behind 9/11 and real people died, but what does that have to do with these people trying to build a mosque? Leave the blame on the real people that did it, don't just throw the blame at a bunch of people who had nothing to do with it. It's like if some Catholic burnt down an Abortion Clinic and killed the doctors because that's how he interprets his religion and you threw the blame at Catholicism in general.
