They didn't exactly join Bethesda. They were bought by Zenimax, the studio owning Bethesda. Which, I suppose, is pretty much the same as Bethesda :P
Anyway, I doubt they would have let Zenimax buy them if it changed the way they work. id's always done what its' wanted, it won't change any time soon.
