@ Squilliam

I think that's a pretty good point about who may be buying the new 360s.

another good point is who is buying new 360s and no games

Personally I suspect the second hand market has a lot to answer for. If you are buying a console this late in the generation and it is not bundled then the sales pitch almost inevitable slides to the second hand market. Bascially it is very easy to buy lots of titles but have none show up in software sales.

now you are just drunk

it can't be that people are buying $299 hw  and then just can't buy software

and it just simply can't be that all have been doing it as 360 HW have been alot and SW have barely moved.

I think welshie has a good point. If I ever get Wii or 360 I'll only be buying used games. There's probably only a few more PS3 games this gen I'll buy new. I've bought more PS3 games new than I did PS2 games, so my new game buying phase is almost over.

its not just you who is buying games so your excuse is full of shit

by your say all the old games should just stop selling cause new console owners would only buy used games but they are selling

As to Squillies idea that RROD fear has been holding people back, well for me there was no way I was buying a used phat 360 when the next gen starts. But now I'm almost certain to be buying a used 360s (prolly Arcade) a year or so after Nextbox releases. So take that for what you will.

sure but we aren't talking about used stuff here and still there would only be some fearing RROD not millions

I agree with this too. If I were to buy a PS3 from this point on, I would definitely be buying used games.

you agree on everything that makes sales of 360 seem to get new owners

if used games were then sales of old games would just drop and used game sales would increase

with amount of HW increase 360S has brought there should be some increase in SW but it has barely changed

I'd add that there just isn't a dominant game right now that all new buyers would get.  So even if they are buying a game or two, it's just spread across the hundreds of possibilities

yeah but the SW has barely moved so even that doesn't stand

Wrong, I already agreed with the existing owners idea, evidence can been seen in my original reply to you.....the "no shit" part. Go back and check it cause you seem to have missed it. You on the other hand act as if you ONLY agree with the one idea that has NO new 360 owners.

As far as used games sales, is there a way to track that? I seriously don't know.

no i have never said only  old 360 owners are buying 360S

my view is that the main sales are from upgradation and few people are buying it and hence SW isn't increasing

there is noway to track used game sales

there are 2 things at play here.

1) it has been a very lean month for game releases, nothing new to buy = lower sales

2) why buy new when as there is nothing new out all the games can be bought cheaper second hand.

example, My brother purchased his first console this gen 2 weeks ago, he upgraded from his recently deceased ps2 to a 360s with 5 games, all 5 games were second hand, until mafia and then reach are released he will only purchase second hand.

man those are just excuses

if there are no games then why are people buying it

just because your brother purchased used games doesn't mean all people will

that way the old games would drown and people will just buy used games

I myself think it could be possible for wii to sell like it did before. the key is them redesigning the wii and adding a HDMI port to it and maybe making it to where you can add a portable hard drive as well. then sells would increase again. plus they could do a redesign and keep the current one but drop the price of it down to 150.

as for the other two consoles i think the ps3 has past its peak just because of the fact they already released their redesign and granted yes could use another price cut but i dont see sales affecting it that much. the 360s is at its peak right now so when the appeal is gone it will drop back down to where it was. i think all these sales is hinged on what nintendo is either thinking up or gonna try in the future to bump  sales back to where it was.

redesign is another thing

abt HDMI adding, that as hardware upgrade and there is no use of that

and no it would just be like the other too

Wii doesn't have that many hardcores that will go out an startr upgrading like PS3 and 360 and the redesign effect is just temporary

PS3'S EFFECT REMAIING LONGER HAS MORE TO DO WITH PRICE CUT
