DKC will sell at least 10 million units. The series is very popular, as the sales of SNES show. There is a lot of pent up demand for the game, as the last DKC game hasn't come out in over a decade. It is also the type of game that appeals to lots of people, simple side scrolling platformer.
In response to your other post, I should have clarified. What I meant was, Wii is PAST its peak, while the HD consoles are not.
