I think BK3 will be Rare's most successful game since the N64 days. I think that because I have a feeling that Microsoft's advertising budget for the game will rival or even surpass that of Gears of War.
Microsoft realizes that they need to have some very successful family friendly games if they're ever going to break out from the current Xbox 360 demographic of adult male hardcore gamers. BK3, if Microsoft pulls out all the stops with it's production and advertising budgets could become a mascot game for the system and help to achieve that goal.
Imagine if the Banjo Kazooie franchise became to the Xbox brand what the Sonic franchise was to the Genesis.
