So last gen, all 1st party software was only about 10% of the market.

This gen, Nintendo alone accounts for 20% of the console software market?!

Small wonder that the publishers want anybody but Nintendo to make the gaming hardware. They'd like their lunch back.

Iwata: (laughs)

remember nearly 70 MILLION of that software is wii sports though

I don't see the relevance.

Wiis bundled with Wii Sports have had a higher MSRP than those which do not. In other words, Nintendo got paid for Wii Sports whether it was a Japanese customer buying it seperately or an American customer buying it bundled.

The customer is still getting a game, and Nintendo is still getting money for it. 3rd party games bundled with the HD systems are treated the same and counted in that huge software total.

Yes but when it happens on as large a scale as it did for Wii sports, there is some significance. Personally, I played my Wii sports for like 20 minutes... and when I bought my Wii i didn't have a choice... every system came with it.
