Yea I think our foreign policy and hatred of the USA is part of the reason but the main reason is Microsoft. People in Europe and Japan just hate that company because of the way they monopolize the operating systems on all the PCs and they dont want microsoft to do the same to the gaming industry.

That's exactly my views on the issue.  Microsoft might be playing nice now in the gaming industry, but when you look at their operating systems and Office applications, they are not so nice because of the amount of control they have in the industry.  If they had total control in the gaming industry, a $600 pricetag for PS3 at launch will look very nice, and 3 year warranty to fix the RRODs?  what's the motivation.

I don't mind the Xbox 360 and Microsoft and I'm enjoying a few of the games (minus the shooter, which is about 90% of its good library), but I do want to see them have to deal with proper amounts of competition.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
