The whole point is that the GT lines scale extremely well, in some games over 100%. So unless the future graphics cards have more than twice the power of a 480 you should be good. Also you are making absolutely NO sense. The heat and the powerusage of two 460s are higher than that of a single GTX 480. If you are so worried about those then just get a single GTX 480.
I don't know how you have set your mind on this but I can guarantee you that your cards will need to be upgraded around the same time that you will need to buy a 2nd GTX 480, and you will have to buy those new expensive ones to replace them instead of getting a, by then, cheaper one. But if you don't want to futureproof your PC that's your choice.
