why are people saying japan is a bigger market for GT. I highly doubt the developers and publisher care about which region has higher proportional sales. 1mil in Japan is not better then 2mil in America. People are greatly overestimating EMEAA sales. The only way GT5 has a shot at 10mil is selling a good 3-4mil in America, which is very possible to happen in the long run. But saying Japan is more important then America is just funny.

GT4 only sold 2.81 units in America, but it reached 10 million WW. I only mention this here because I wanted to show that people shouldn't underestimate EMEAA sales.

Finally! That's what I mean. The underestimation of EMEAA sometimes leads to ignoring this market or thinking that America = world. Sometimes you should check former sales of a franchise. GT3 sold 14 million. At its release there were lesser PS2 consoles sold than PS3 are now. And as snfr said, GT4 managed to sell 10 million without huge sales in America. So EMEAA is HUGE regarding Gran Turismo. You'll see.

The problem with the comparison to GT3 and PS2 is that GT3 was the first showcase piece of software for the PS2.  It was what many PS2 owners race fans or not purchased to show off what the PS2 could do.  This isnt the case with GT5 and the PS3.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
