First, you just can't compare handhelds with consoles. Many people make that mistake, also some at Sony, and that's why the DS is beasting the PSP.

The main reason why you won't see as many epic games on the DS as on home consoles is that they just don't fit on handhelds.
That being said, the DS has the best line-up of all handhelds if you don't count remakes. I mean, the GBA had a great line-up, but a huge part of its great games are SNES remakes. The DS on the other hand has very few remakes, but its own games in most of Nintendo's franchises. And all that call the DS's library mediocre just have to wait until all the RPG's that are currently released in Japan make their way to the west.

So much about the DS, let's move on to the Wii. Well, there's not much to add because Rol said it. The Gamecube's strength were the great first party titles. You can be sure that you will see them on the Wii as well. The PS2's strength were the third party titles and especially the amount of titles in the range 80 % upwards. The Wii may won't get as much third party love as the PS2, but it will definitely get enough to satisfy fans of every genre. Lastly, let's come to the DS's special appeal. It's its new interface and the new gaming ideas that emerge. You can be absolutely sure that you will have that too.

So let's make a summary. For people that have always been on the Nintendo side, the Wii will be one of the best consoles ever because it does everything what they are used to and even more. People that don't like gaming too much will love the Wii too because of its accessability. People that are long-time gamers but not interested in Nintendo's games, however, probably won't like the Wii as much as the PS2, but they will still be happy with it.
