I want Microsoft to stay because I really like the fact that the Xbox and Xbox 360 helped to bring PC gaming to consoles in a big way. I understand the anger some current PC gamers hold for it but for a lapsed PC RPG gamer like myself it was a godsend to be able to play games like Mass Effect, Divinity 2, Risen, Dragon Age, and others that I wouldn't have played otherwise because I was out of the PC upgrade loop.
Also I think the console World is far better off for it because I really think it helped to save HD gaming as we know it this generation. IF the PS3 had been the only HD console I think it would have been far too third parties to simply make PS2 games with tacked on PS3 features since all PS3s were backwards compatible and the PS2 was outselling the PS3. Add the Wii getting more marketshare and multiplatform might have meant Wii/PS2/PS3 instead of the PC/360/PS3 that it's synonymous with today.
Also people can bash Xbox Live all they want but without it I can't imagine what online gaming on consoles would be like right now. We'd probably have no achievements and far less features than we now take for granted. Also they have brought a lot of money into gaming which has went into the pockets of game developers and brought us some games that we would have likely never have seen otherwise.
