I think some Virtual Boy games should be remade for the 3DS.

Sorry, it was supposed to be a joke. Well, it's the dark side of Nintendo history and although Yokoi was a genius, all his career was finished with that thing. Sometimes, one single mistake can dirt all the good things you've done in the past. Too bad for him, I really wished he could spend more time in Nintendo (who knows if he would have that accident while still in the company?), but Virtual Boy destroyed his career.

And, perhaps, with VB's failure, Nintendo learned how to do things the right way.

There are some articles stating he was already planning to retire from Nintendo, so the VB was just an unfortunate last act before he founded his own company (that made the Wonderswan).
