Yeah 2012 is what I was thinking for the next console as well. Main reason being, PS2's life was six years and Wii is tracking on a similar path to its sales, so six years for the Wii would make sense. I still think releasing another console next year would be a bit premature, since motion plus games are just starting to be released and Vitality Sensor hasn't even come out yet.

Also, it would follow the DS Wii pattern: 2004-2006 for DS and Wii respectively. 2010 (in Japan) - 2012 for 3DS and N6.

With VGC 3.0 there's not the "hardware from launch" feature right? I would like to see if really the PS2 in its 4th year was selling just like the Wii now...in that case Wii's sales would make more sense, even if a bigger start should mean big sales for its whole life...
