Ling rush without making any drones at the start - just saving up and going straight for the spawning pool and 6 lings.

Still doesn't make any sense to me as I haven't gone beyond the campaign unfortunately..... I assume this is a zerg tactic and is similar to a warthog rush in Halo Wars?

Well the Warthog rush does normally involve upgrading Warthogs first... and rarely works. I only occasionally built them, and then just drove them to the enemy and let them destroy them to free up sace for more Hawks... But Starcraft II is far more complicated than that
