In Japan at least, I believe proper integration between a PSP and PS3 version of MHT (ala Gran Turismo) could've convinced a larger portion of the PSP MH fanbase to also grab a console MH title. I also think PSN integration would've made for a superior online experience that the PSP fanbase would've been more receptive to.
And it'd be hard to argue at this point that a third party Japanese title would not sell better on ps3, something that is incredibly important for a franchise whose sales come pre-dominantly from Japan. Whether it's Sengoku Basara or Tales of Vesperia/Graces, I can't think of an instance in Japan where the ps3 doesn't come out significantly ahead.

And Sony did the same for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, which was the best selling MH in the West prior to Tri. It has thus far sold over 700k in the West, which is quite a feat for a PSP title. There's no reason Sony couldn't or wouldn't have done similar for MHT.
Also, I don't see why any such advantages SB3 ps3 had over its Wii counterpart wouldn't also apply to MHT, given the game's focus on online play, an area in which the ps3 is inherently advantaged compared to the Wii.
And just because a game sold great doesn't mean it couldn't have sold better under different circumstances, which is all we're arguing. MHT is the best selling home console MH yet, which is a good thing either way.
That being said, I didn't expect my initial comment to garner much of a response. The topic of this thread isn't Monster Hunter Tri, so I'll leave things where they stand instead of continuing this discussion further.
