This pretty much mostly these measures were taken to counter pirates and the guys in Korea making a buttload of money on the game as a sport.  

It's far better DRM than most of the DRM out there cause you can install it on as many PCs as you want, able to play offline, all you gotta do is have your account when you do want to take it online.
