Because it puts things in perspective. If you don't know what exactly the Asperger syndrome is, then the story of this young boy probably is touching for most people. That he suddenly starts to talk a lot and that even to people who doesn't know, like when he was invited to that community day. But he primarily talks about LBP, his new found hobby. This isn't really getting out of his shell, it falls in line with the normal development of a kid with Asperger syndrome.

Quick, contact his parents and tell them to quit on that silly hope stuff.

 You know, maybe the need to come into a thread like this and ruin it for everyone should rather make you think about your own state of mind, and don't tell me you would have done the same if the Story was about Super Mario Bros.
