Edit: Sorry, i should rephrase that.

"Could sell a fuck load of Quality/Mature/Core 3rd party software". I acknowledge that the Wii can shift a lot of 3rd party software.

Er, considering Wii already has two RE branded million sellers under it's belt, I'm not sure what the relevance here is?  Is Resident Evil not "Quality/Mature/Core 3rd party software"?  Because Wii's certainly sold a "fuck load" of RE games. Even the "disappointing" DarkSide Chronicles on Wii outsold all the PS2 Gun Survivors combined... maybe you should rephrase again? ;)

On topic, Wii's window for RE5 is long past imo.  I bet it'll be a launch title for Wii 2 though, probably with the latest version of SF4 or MVC3 alongside it.

I shouldn't rephrase again, because what i said is true...

And I'm talking about in the masses, not just for the RE Series (althoguh the thread is about RE). But if you really wanna go there...

With Resident Evil, the Wii has had 5 (Oh my god, it's been ignored this gen!) games released, reaching a combined number of  4.04 Million.

The PS2, we only have data for 4 of the games released. Even then though, those 4 games bring a total of 6.81 Million.

Resident Evil 5 on the PS3 ALONE has sold 3.3 Million units, and will possibly reach 4 Million before all is said and done (Including Gold Edition). (Wait, what? Only ONE Resident Evil game on the PS3? I'm never buying another Capcom game again! D:)

The 360 has like the PS3, one Resident Evil game. But it will end up with sales of over 3 Million for it... Which go to show where the main audience for these games are...

Hell... We only have data for 3 of the RE games released on the Gamecube, and those 3 alone are above the Wii's 4.04 Million with 5 games. Coming in at 4.39.

Face it, the Wii doesn't "deserve" the game like some people make it sound. It would be a wise business decision to put the game on Wii, yes. But by no means should the Wii have it on "principal". Not when (in terms of Resident Evil games) it is struggling to match numbers of other consoles, with a larger install base and more games.

lol, yes because all RE games are created equal.  Last gen ports and spinoffs are all Wii has... if you apply the same standard to PS2 (ie: drop RE4), then it's sold probably in the same area (4m) with more spinoffs (4 vs 2) and fewer ports (1 vs 3).  If you apply that standard to PS360 (ie: drop RE5), they've sold zero RE games.

And that's the point, Wii being home to the best selling RE spinoff ever, and the best selling last gen RE port ever, sort of implies that a core series entry would've done amazingly well on the platform market wise.  Beyond that, the Wii's standard interface works flawlessly with the current RE game design, arguably far better than traditional dual analog control even.  It's not as much about Wii "deserving" anything or misguided "principle", it's more about Capcom missing a obvious opportunity here.  And like I said, it's a bit too late now, so there's not much need to belabor the point... now, it's better for Capcom to look to next gen and decide where to put what.  A real RE going to 3DS is encouraging at least though... I wonder how it'll sell...

Actually, passing up all those sales for stupid reasons was the principle I meant.
