It's as if you don't care about all the great games the wii doesn't have because of 3rd party... I'm amazed that anyone can be fine with just Nintendo's first party games and handful of other great games that are there when there's so much more available just a console away. I've found that people that are okay with the Wii always argue well we still have Mario and Zelda... and Metriod... Nintendo hasn't changed.... What about FINAL FANTASY? What about FPS games like Red Faction, Bioshock, and MW2? How about Fallout 3? Games like Borderland? Assassin's creed...you can't ignore 3rd party... it's even possible to be convinced that 3rd party is more important then the first party games unless your the up-most biggest fan of some first party games and I mean like hardcore.... but those I imagine to be a niche. Sure I can buy Halo 3, and 11 million others right next to me... but only a niche of those people are hardcore Halo fans and play that game EVERY day and have hardly any other games. I've been playing Nintendo since I was 3 or 4... I remember playing Mario Bros and passing it and ever since then I've been with Nintendo...NES... SNES... Nintendo 64... and even Gamecube... why did I stick with Nintendo... simple, it had a variety of games, platformers, rpg's, shooters, everything... I had CONFIDENCE with them and didn't think about going Playstation or Sega Genesis because why should I? But when the Wii came out... and I kept hearing Nintendo Revolution... I was so hyped and thinking aaah yes Nintendo is gonna make it happen again. Dam I was wrong... they made it happen alright but for themeselves. Nintendo lost me... so I had to choose between Xbox 360 and the PS3... and I chose Xbox 360 because Microsoft knew I was a big boy and I wanted to play some Gears of War.... NIntendo... went casaul and made games for kids and some of em are probably great no doubt but again and I can't say this enough to someone that thinks Nintendo is aaa ok... Nintendo doesn't have enough big boy games, with the letter M, because those really appeal to me and many older gamers . Mario is great but Mario isn't enough and I won't settle for Wii cook, and Wii walk, Wii eat as games to play after I'm done playing Mario............. Question Lemme guess... your a hardcore Mario, Zelda, Metriod fan.. one of those maybe? I ask because the way you talk about Nintendo... it's like oh well Nintendo is just fine to me. |
I was just trying to say that you can'b blame Nintendo for the lack of 3rd party support, they couldn't invest money on exclusives in 2006-2007 and MS and Sony already bought many exclusives (or temporary ones) at that time.
To answer you question, I never played an home console Zelda, and the only Metroid I played was Fusion on the GBA. About Mario, yes I like its games very much, I played many Mario games.
I could live with just Nintendo but I don't, actually I'm playing Monster Hunter 3, Boom Blox Smash Party and No More Heroes, all 3rd party games...
You continue saying Nintendo went casual but it's not true at all: some brands have a more casual approach, like Mario Kart, but can you say Brawl is casual? Or Mario Galaxy? Or Zelda Twilight Princess? There aren't that many games appealing to the casual audience compared to other Nintendo games: Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, Wii Play, Wii Party, Wii Fit, Wii Fit Plus, Big Brain Accademy (sorry if I forget 1 or 2 games). You can't say they turned casual when, generally speaking, the quality for the "hardcore" is always there. But I understand your need of more great IPs from 3rd parties, and that will happen in the future probably, seeing Nintendo's approach with the 3DS...but the Wii will never be accepted by third parties, that's a fact and blaming only Nintendo is a bit silly.
