The Sega CD didn't do too bad. I mean it sold 6 million units and it was $300 at launch. Lets remember 20 years ago $300 was worth more.
32X was a complete bomb and it was a stupid idea to begin with. A $169 for a device that adds shit 3D graphics and still uses 4MB cartridges? GTFO!
Anyhow, its dumb to compare the Kinect to those add ons. Its more logical to compare it to the Wii Balance Board which is a huge success and has a weak library.
