The failure of 3rd party success on the Wii is "mostly" their own fault. 3rd parties pretty much dug their own grave by releasing enormous amounts of shovelware, which in turn caused their games that had actual quality to be quite unsucessful.

I think the next Big N home console will have more middle ground in an attempt to not only keep their casual gaming audience, but to steal more consumers away from M$ and Sony.

No, it was that the shovelware to major game ratio wasn't like with the PS1, PS2, or even DS.

So it wasn't simply that there is those kinds of games, it's that their other games are too few.

Plus even most of the quality games do well. The disappointments get a lot more attention from the gaming press, as a way to discredit the Wii.

You don't see any HD flop used as justification not to support the PS3 or 360. That's not because their games magically sell better. It's because the developers ACTUALLY MAKE the games that sell well and offset the lesser selling games.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
