Sega Rally - true Colin McRae - DiRT 2 sold 2 million so far (probably 2.5m LTD) That's more than DiRT and the games of last generation. Race Driver - Not much data, but GRID is almost at 2 million, so I'm pretty sure it's about the same as the older ones. Ridge Racer - For the whole series yeah. But Ridge Racer 7 still outsold Ridge Racer 6. Gran Turismo - GT5 Prologue easily outsold GT4 Prologue, so I guess it's not down. PGR - Everything between 1.5m and 2m. PGR4 could even outsell the first one. Forza - Nope as mentioned above Forza 3 already outsold Forza 2. Sonic Riders - Some missing data in the EMEA region, but in the end the Wii version will sell on paar with the first game. Burnout - Nope. Paradise outsold Revenge (a shame) and is on its way to outsell Takedown. Wipeout - no data, but that could be right. F1 - no data, but I'm pretty sure the 2010 version will beat pretty much every prior installment Motorstorm - First one was heavily bundled. Probably sold around 1.5m without them. Pacific Rift probaly won't reach that but will come pretty close to that. GTR - I don't know didn't the 2nd one sell more than the first ?
So Colin McRae, GT Prologue, PGR, Mario Kart, Forza & Burnout are definitely up from the last installment |
Just for reference, the first Colin McRae Rally sold 6 million copies, the DIRT games are nowhere near what the old PS1/PS2/PC games used to pull in.
GT PSP bombed, and GT5P has huge inherent advantages over GT4P (worldwide release, heavy bundling, series debut on the platform, etc)... it's exceedingly clear that GT5 won't come within sniffing distance of the series highpoint GT3 was.
PGR4 and Forza 3 both are well behind their previous installments, and PGR3 was down already from PGR1 last gen. Paradise outsold Revenge, but it's over 500k behind Takedown and that's with a huge amount of post release support and no quick sequel (something no previous Burnout had the luxury of).
So... that leaves us with... Mario Kart. :/
