I don't see it like that.
I like this site not because it provides consumer numbers, but because the numbers are weekly, and that there are numbers for so many things.
So just because I am a member here and use shipments as official sales, doesn't mean I'm in the wrong.

Do you know what happens when products are overshipped?
They get shipped back to the manufacturer. Or are heavily discounted, or are dumped or any number of things.
Shipment figures are useful, but they aren't the whole picture when looking at the demand of a product to consumers.

They aren't the whole picture, they are the best overall picture.

I don't know in the video games business how often it happens but it happens all the times when it comes to books and music.
EDIT no single number it the best overall picture. Having all numbers provides the best picture.
