Looking at Tri's first quarter, it did pretty well actually at 690,000. Capcom never gave a specific expectation for the west, but most have assumed it was 800k based on their original MH3 projection (way back before the western delay).
For comparison, MHFU did 400k it's first quarter in the west (though it also released later in the quarter), and Capcom had expected 900k (lol).
