I'm really curious at how Crytek will implement this. Not because its technically not possible...its just as easy to make a 360 3D title if not easier due to 360s video card, 10MB ram on die and unified RAM. Im interested in seeing if Crytek locks out all non HDMI 1.4 tech with the 360 version like the PS3 does. If they don't and they make it the same as Avatar or Invincible tiger...the 360 version will work with all kinds of 3D displays. |
Actually, the hardware specs of the 360 really have no bearing on whether it could display 3D output the way that Crytek implements it. Their method only requires each frame to be rendered once which only results in less than a 2% hit in performance.
But the technique is current a "secret" proprietary coding technique of Crytek's, meaning until the code becomes open source or sub-licensed, Crytek is the only developer that will be using it.
The 360 won't have 3D compatibility because MS has gone on record as saying it's not worth it yet for them. They will wait until there are more 3D HDTVs in homes before they change their tune in regards to 3D support.
