It really doesn't make sense.....why would a company pick a time (earnings report) that gets mostly financial press, and then talk about a product launch?  You'd think that nintendo would pick a time that it would have a lot more press attending, more diversified press, gaming press like the TGS or something.   Earnings report , lol

At the financial results briefing for the fiscal term ending March 2010 (held on 7 May 2010) Nintendo announced Wii Party.

Around the time for the Q2 financial results briefing for the fiscal term ending March 2010 (held on 30 October 2009) they announced the DSi XL.

And the 3DS was announced on 23 March 2010 with this message.

So if Nintendo wants to announce the release date at the earnings release they will.
