Even then downgrading and re-upgrading the system files is one of the more dangerious thing you can do. A word of advice if you go that route. USE a battery backup. A power failure midupgrade (or mod) is the easiest way to get a nice white $200 paperweight. The first step I would do is to make sure everything sounds good. Does the drive have any (new) weird noises? Are the fans spinning without obstruction(look with flashlight)? Do all games run into a problems or just select ones ?(BTW SSMB, Metroid Trilogy, and Monster Hunter 3 are the most common troublemakers- the first 2 are DL discs which the Wii struggles with and MH3 often causes overheating) Try an undemanding title like a 2D WiiWare, Virtual Console, or simple disc game (Geometry Wars is a great choice if you own it). If you do run into consistent crashes, how long does it take? Is it consistent in the time it takes? I hope this helps at least a bit. Best of luck gents. |
My Wii doesn't make any weird sounds. The fans only spin when my Wii is on, I just check. The only one that gives me problems is MH3, it freezes when I play offline during loading,but, when I'm online I have no issues. When I turn on my Wii and press "a" to go to the Wii menu, sometimes a message pops up regarding my Mii channel data. I erased all the Miis that I did not make from my Mii channel, I also have over 2400 Miis on my Mii parade, can that be a possibility why my Wii freezes? When I'm on the Wii menu and press "a" to go to a channel my Wii freezes, this happens 2-4 times and than my Wii will work after that.

BTW: I'm not going to reset my Wii, I have too much saved data and most of it I can't moved to a SD card. I'm not going to mod my Wii also, I don't want to risk damaging it. I'll have to wait until the next update,unless I can get it fixed.
