Because 3rd party developers don't care about selling consoles for Sony/Nintendo/Microsoft.

They want their own profits, they mostly don't care about who wins the console wars.

 

And if you are going to risk your money developing a game, it makes much more sense to invest, lets say 10 mil on a Wii game than 20mil on a ps3/360 game. Specially when that game is going to get a lot of it's sales in Japan, where neither the 360 nor the ps3 can sell any software.


Carlos pretty much nailed it there. The only home console platform that has sold well in Japan is the Wii. Rpg developers are going to be hesistant to put anything on PS3 and 360 without some sort of financial incentive from Sony or MS.
