I mean current console of choice, I have no idea how the holiday will shape up, for once this gen though I can see a possibility of 360 being 1st overall this year.

The Wii was created to sell during the holidays, we were having the same issues last year when the PS3 started outselling the Wii in japan ( for months) and the Wii just blew the PS3 away in December and ended up ahead.
The 360 is having a very nice year, kinect will do very well, but the Wii will beat it easily.

Not sure if it was due to stock, but Xmas week UK 2008, (27th Dec) 360 > Wii
July - December 31st last year in the UK, Wii outsold 360 by 300k.
I believe at worst they will be within 100k of each other by the end of the year ...

Wii sold out from November and December.
Looking at Wii numbers this year, it is down 73% from last year which makes the 360 number look good while the 360 is selling on par with 2009.
