| Viper1 said: LOTN, the games Ilisted represent a concept more so than their actual IP. Some call them core or hardcore games. or at the very least, non-casual. The point was to illustrate that many Wii gamers behevently vocalized their frustration at the lack of these so called core games and yet when they were presented to Wii gamers at retail, Wii gamers failed to validate the demands by not putting enough money where their mouth was. And I can only assume the one we got you are referring to is RE4: Wii Edition. A game we did not need to vocalize our demand for as it was in planning and development before Wii even launched. And it sold on almost merit alone.
And props to all of you making the effort to support those risk taking developers, publishers and IPs. |
The thing is that "core" doesn't automatically mean "hit". GTA is both. Madworld is just one of those. The reason being that, well how big have brawlers been in recent years? Madworld is actually one of the better selling games in that genre right now. And that's actually impressive considering the atypical art style and no replay value.
Oh yeah, the Wii is getting Dragon Quest. That sure as heck is something that is both of these. It's also a game I'm looking forward to, as I've been a fan of the series since VII. I just hope I can afford IX soon.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
