Woman Sentenced for Having Sex With Son She Gave Up
(July 13) -- A Michigan woman who gave up a son for adoption when he was several days old got updates and photos of him every year. But when she didn't get a photo for his 14th birthday, she contacted him online through Facebook.
The relationship between Aimee L. Sword, 36, and the boy became intimate, and on Monday, Sword was sentenced to nine to 30 years in prison for having sex with her 14-year-old son in 2008, according to the Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News.

Aimee Sword pleaded guilty to having sex with her 14-year-old biological son. She had given him up for adoption when he was a baby but tracked him down through a social networking site.
Sword apologized in court, her lawyer, Mitchell Ribitwer, said.
"When she saw this boy, something just touched off in her -- and it wasn't a mother-son relationship, it was a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship," Ribitwer said, according to the Free Press. "Aimee's searching for a reason why this happened. She can't understand it. She's going to get some counseling."
At one point, after the boy got into trouble, his adoptive mother let him stay with Sword, who was married with five children, the paper said. When he returned home to Grand Rapids, he told a counselor, who told police.
Sword, charged with four counts of criminal sexual contact, pleaded guilty to having sex with the boy once, the Free Press reported.
