I would bet money that neither one of those two win any GotY awards. Not because they are gonna suck, but because they have probably run outta things to do by now. I assume they will have a few nice things coming in that respect though. When you think GotY material you need to think about what the title is doing new in comparison to the last version of it. There are other factors of course, but that's what usually seals the deal. Bioshock, Mario Galaxy, Mass Effect, Disaster Day of Crisis, and Lair would be my best bets. If PC games are eligable in this one too than add HL2 Ep 2 because Valve is famous for being some of the very best. There are some things that could improve their chances though. (IE, a really nice fuel truck explosion). The games that are sticking to the basics of what made them great in the first place are the ones that I would kinda be more doubtful on. Which is the case for some Nintendo games as well as 360 and PS3 games. IE, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Metroid Prime 3. That's what I believe anyways.
