RI: We gave that older design up. In order to realize multiplayer, at first we considered an action-based battle system. But we decided it could hardly realize the simple but strategic and thrilling battles, which are a tradition of Dragon Quest. We developed turn-based multiplayer as a test and it gave us a fresh sensation of multiplayer fun based on familiar feelings – so we changed our focus to a turn-based system.

And this is why the game will NEVER make the penetration in NA or Europe that it does in Japane and Asia. EVER. There's nothing wrong with turn base, but the culture psychology is different. NA is about quick gratitude than sit and contemplate rewards. This is why Bioware will rule over NA.

I know there are a lot of turn based players happy to know it's going to be turn based. I get that. And your getting what you want. However this article is about SE being unhappy with sales and want to increase sales. So it's going to have to change if they want to increase their sales. If their sales don't increase they may make the decision not to do future ports. The sad part of that is because they will never understand why their games are as successful as they want them.

I remember DW with fond memories, but I don't have the time to play a solo turn based game by myself anymore. My time is short and I would rather share the experience and not many people in my social circle are into sitting around taking turns.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.
