Think Wii Sports Resort. If you want to roll the bomb, you bowl a strike. If you want to throw the bomb, you sink the three-pointer.
They showed bomb throwing in some of the E3 videos. I doubt you'll be able to throw them backwards, but the difference between a roll and a throw will probably be the difference between an underarm swing and an overhead swing.
