Another Icon really; Gaming needs one.
I don't want to be the odd man out, but I'd say he needs to be more adult too, in the realm of what Disaster: Day of Crisis was "adult/more serious".
It could be a guy who uses guns or a swordsman. I wouldn't say hack and slash, but Nintendo has a knack of MAKING genres, so it would depend on the gameplay. I wouldn't mind seeing them have a new Robot mascot either or something with some decent armor. Custom Robo had appeal but the gameplay was not refined....
An adventurer, unlike Link and Mario, but someone capable of selling on par with each Zelda entry (3-7 million range).
Miyamoto said he is interested in swimming.....and helping kids... Maybe it is a lifeguard gamem or a water-focused adventure game IDK. Trying to figure out Miyamoto's next move is like solving a rubix cube with 8 colors blindfolded...in space...without a suit.
