Unprecedented demand would mean that it is higher than it was at launch.
Also, as a rule I do not trust anything that comes from "Industry Gamers."

PS -- Could not demand be so high because of (a) the knowledge that a new console version was coming depressed sales in May (see NPD) and (b) the trade-in offers (see Gamestop) has some people going to a different/newer version of the console in hopes of not having future problems (and in some cases of not having to pay another $40 for the cord to connect Kinect).
