So it appears that while FFIII may not be at the top of most people's top Final Fantasy game list, it's not among the worst either. That seems to coincide with everything I've heard about the game. I never enjoyed the little i played of the numbered games in the series, which explains why I'm fairly ignorant about this game, i grow bored of FF games that lack the Crystal Chronicles subtitle really quickly. The franchise failed to resonate with me on the whole, odd since i couldn't get enough of Dragon Quest IV. That hasn't stopped me from giving some games a good go though, a friend allowed me to borrow FFXIII recently so I'm going to try and complete that when i get a chance. Hopefully i won't find it as boring as he did though. I may give this game a go if the opportunity arises as well.

coming from a huge Final Fantasy fan , i'd say you should try FFIX and put down FFXIII for now.

All of my peers who follow the franchise either despise FFXIII altogether or say its no where near as good as previous entries, yet myself - who i far less enthusiastic about the franchise and has yet to play through even one numbered FF game entirely - am usually the one who remains optimistic about its overall quality. The one who lent me the game says the games biggest problem (just one of a myriad, apparently) is its battle system, which he repeatedly labels as horrific. His favorite title is FFXII btw. I only ever read positive impressions of the game a short while before it was released in the US, back then there were many claims that it had the best battle system in any FF game ever, so i just wen't along with it until now. Is the game really that bad?

Actually the battle system is the best battle system in an RPG in a long time, the common problem  with it is that its very story based and linear so there is no roaming around towns and such like older games.
