He's got a ton of health, so stick to it.

Here's the best strategy:  make sure everyone has their highest defense equipment on, and bring their strongest dragon or ice weapons.  If you can hop on his back, do so, and attack the two blue-ish spots on his back until both break, then hop off.  You may also want to leave your anti-dragon bombs in the holes.

If you can't hop on his back, three people should spam cannonballs, and use the gong when he's about to ram the ship.  If you use the gong when he's charging the ship head on, you'll get more free attacks.

The fourth person should take the ballista binder from the supply chest, and focus on shooting his legs.  When Jhen's about to charge, use the ballista binder to stop him.

When he attacks the front of the ship, use the dragonator (activate it right after he starts his second leap from the sand).

On the final phase, two people with the strongest weapons go out and attack his legs.  The remaining two attack first with ballista rounds, then with cannonballs.  They should use the dragonator when he's close, and they should also use the ballista binder/gong to prevent him from pancacking the ship.  If the two guys who charged managed to break both legs, have them hoof it pack to the ship and join with the cannonballing.

That's it.  Even with four people, it'll probably still take nearly 30 minutes to kill him, so don't get discouraged, keep your health up, and have fun!

Lol, wow. Ok I tried most of that, but people keep dying, they get on top of the giant mountain and try to beat the crap out of it with little twigs and get flung off or they get hit by the side tackle. It's only the low level event quest btw not the actual jhen moran quest, hate to think what would happen during the real thing.

Anyway as some sort of consolation I did manage to beat Rathian with 1 other person which might not seem like a big deal but it is to me (I'm only HR 12).
