@ the original quote from mundus: I think that's rather premature. 360 in Americas is still on launch boost with the discounted discontinued skus. And the Japan boost had a confluence of 3 aspects to it, and still came in under PS3 & Wii, only one of which will be a lasting influence, and it's the weakest of the sales influences for the Japan market. So you can't rely on Japan contributing more than 5K per week long term.
So, all things considered I think it's pretty likely PS3 will have a number of weeks above 360; once the stock of discounted units is gone, and the "upgraders", have mostly done their thing (by what I've seen on this site it looks like the number of upgraders will be very similar to the PS3 Slim upgraders (some even buying 2!?!; now that's devotion for you). 360 outsell PS3 in total for the remainder of the year? Perhaps it will. If it does you can well and truly kiss Sony's 15 million projection good bye, and you can probably kiss goodbye PS3 selling more this FY than last.
I didn't see much prospect of PS3 making 15 million without price adjustments before the 360S. Whatever medium term sales increase the 360S brings makes cutting PS3 price essential for getting to the 15 million mark. So it's either fall well short of projections and piss off the shareholders, or cut the price and piss off the shareholders. It's a tough call, and not a good position for Sony to be in.
