The Legend of Zelda was created back in 1986, where video games were beginning, so it was one of the first action/adventure games with an original story that had been never done in video games back these days. Find your sources. http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Legend_of_Zelda_(série) Look at "Influences" and see by yourself that Miyamoto is a very creative developer that found its inspiration throughout his tastes and common life experiences.

Again, the comment on Mario is not even reliable, since we're talking about recent characters created, and not even scenarios.

Oh and, looking for hidden treasures has been already done by Tomb Raider many times...
