I think the main reasoning is to clear the pipe of the older generation and also allow for the redesigned Arcade to come out around the time of the Kinect. Once they have these ducks in a row I then expect a price reduction on what would be the standard 360. At this point I expect them to push the Arcade/Kinect bundle hard trying to attract the casual market whilst keeping one eye on the existing userbase.
