It has nothing to do with 'most pointless delay', either! The Super Mario Galaxy 2 Melbourne launch event this morning saw hundreds of frostbitten fans cram into EB Games, eager to get their hands on the game, the freebies, and Mario himself.
Mario received an impressive 172 hugs in the space of 20 minutes, establishing the hugging record for a character mascot. It's a new category for The World Record Academy, but the closest comparison is Jeff Ondash, who hugged 7,777 people in a massive 24 hour time period outside a Las Vegas casino.
