That's why I said "usually".

Nintendo's not going to keep the handheld crown, there going to lose it eventually and it can happen with the 3DS.

And where is your logic behind this? Isn't it just driven by hope that this company falls from grace, and possibly Sony retaking its crown?

I'm not saying Sony's next handheld is doomed, it may be (relatively) successful. Usurping the 3DS is simply out of the question, however. Once the market chooses a leader, and the momentum gets rolling, it's impossible to stop. This goes for any console or company - it's not as if Nintendo had a chance once they let the PS2 take off. That is why this "Sony waits and tops Nintendo" plan doesn't work. (unless Nintendo pulls a "599 US dollars" type error)

Or, by "wait," you mean waiting the 3DS gen out. Launching maybe 4 years later, something like what the DS was to the GBA, or the PS1 to the SNES. This still requires some sort of crazy unique idea, and it still means 3DS leads its own gen.

Sony's never had the handheld crown?

I've never said I expect Sony to take over, it could very well be some other company but right now Sony is it's only competitor. The X360 released a year before the Wii yet the Wii surpassed the X360 in a fairly short period of time.

We'll just have to wait and see but there's no way Nintendo is going to keep the handheld title, if Apple get's serious into gaming then Nintendo should really be afraid of the competition.
