| dschumm said: Is no one ever happy? In the last 13 months we received Zelda, Metroid, and Mario. The 3 biggest franchises Nintendo has. But apprently that is not enough. Next 6 months we get Mariokart and Smash Bros, both with online. People still complain. What about the lesser franchises you say Warioware, Paper Mario, Mario Strikers, Pokemon, Batallion Wars, DK, Big Brain, Fire Emblem, Mario Party. Oh yeah we have had those too. .... What about new IPs? Excitetruck, WiiSports,WiiPlay already. Wiifit and WiiMusic promised for 08. What is it that is getting delayed. People are having a hard time coming up with things they haven't done. Sure Animal Crossing is one, but Pikman, who is holding off buying a system for that title. And as for this mysterious Donkey Kong game, I hate to tell you but we have had a couple including one on the Wii. They kind of suck. Noone at Nintendo promised a DK platformer. Yeah is seems likely but.... Don't even get me started on Zelda. We get 2 at most pre generation. We got one at launch, guess when the next one will be.... 2010-2011. |
I am a Nintendo fan too, always have been a staunch supporter of Nintendo but don't kid yourself. Nintendo let alot of gamers down with the Nintendo Wii. Some of this dissapointment has been carried over from the GameCube!
Your three big titles. That you say should be enough well the first one Zelda:TP we all were looking forward to it on GameCube I didn't mind getting it for Wii but from Zelda in November to Metroid in August all we got were mini-game compilations. Sure Metroid and Mario were great but Nintendo had initially set them for spring/summer releases!
Oh and Metroid being one of Nintendo's biggest lol, Metroid is one of the poorest selling franchises in Nintendo's catalogue. Don't think for a second Metroid is one of the biggest in any way shape or form.
Pokemon one of the franchises you also list. Battle Revolution was rushed and cheaply made recycling many 3D models from the older games as well as lacking any substance. Just one battle after another, it was a major step backwards from the GameCube Pokemon games. Nobody wants a game that is worse then any other one since the N64!
You also bring up other titles PaperMario and DK for example. Well both were GameCube ports, gamers want to see polished Wii games not sloppy GameCube ports. DK was horrible and PaperMario while alright was not what many gamers wanted to see with a new console.
WiiFit , WiiPlay , WiiSports and WiiMusic. Ummm they are all pretty much tech demo's with some added functionality. In know way should they be considered full blown games. The Mii's are cheaply made 3D models and the games themselves just show off how the hardware works. They are cheaply made and rushed to attract casual gamers who don't care about the visuals.
Essentially in this entire year we got two AAA games. Of those two Metroid is not even one of Nintendo's bigger franchises. What about AnimalCrossing and Pikmin3 believe it or not both titles have exceptionally large fanbases and their are people waiting for them. Other titles like DisasterDayOfCrisis and Kirby are also on the wanted list.
Fact is last generation Nintendo used to release one or more titles each month. I know because I bought one Nintendo first party title a month for years. I have 32-Nintendo first party games, but this generation Nintendo has slipped up not releasing anything for months!
