When I am in the market for a blu ray player or whatever is the new disc format, then I will think long and hard about a console from Sony.
Until then, the PS3 does not have enough titillating exclusives to make me dump my $300 Xbox 360 and at least $1000 worth of games (20 or so games at a $60 price per game) to make a lateral purchase as most of the games released on 360 are also released on the PS3.
I am no fanboy. I have never owned an original Xbox, I bought the PS1 for Final Fantasy 7 when it first came out, I bought the N64 for Super Mario 64 and Goldenye, and bought a PS2 that was my last console purchase from 2001 until 2008 when I purchased an Xbox 360.
